Over the years, the seaside resorts began making a comeback. The increased hassle involved in flying, together with the worsening Euro and global economic insecurity have all been factors in making many of us look inwards towards the numerous beauty spots on our own mainland.

Blackpool remains perennially popular, with its Mecca for stag and hen nights persona, miles of sandy beaches and kiss- me- quick mentality. It might be gaudy but, to many, Blackpool still sizzles like fish and chips on a hot Friday night. The pleasure beach is one of the best and most extensive fairgrounds anywhere in mainland Europe and, while not quite the cheap date she once was, Blackpool can still reel in the crowds.

Torquay is more quaint, with beautiful beaches washed by the Gulf Stream, and an unlikely profusion of palm trees. The so-called ‘English Riviera’ also takes in the highlights of Cornwall and Devon, with its surfing fraternities and small fishing harbours, where life seems to have been put on pause for centuries. Many find this mix of tranquil and traditional to be addictive year round.

Whitby boasts a stunning setting, with the ruined abbey looming massively above a harbour full of fishing boats and strolling Goths, keen to immerse themselves in memories of Bram Stoker and his ultimate anti-hero, Count Dracula.

More sparkling by miles is perennial Brighton, with its pier, seemingly perma- tanned population, and row after row of B & B’s that strut along one of the most instantly familiar seafronts in Britain. That pavilion is world famous, and its proximity to London means that Brighton will always be a perennially welcome refuge from the heat of high summer in the sweltering capital.

By way of another contrast, Scarborough is more bracing, with winds coming in off the North Sea that sweep across acres of fantastic, floodlit sandy beaches. Imposing cliffs are straddled by vaulting grand hotels that may be past their best, but still know how to tastefully apply the slap. Candy floss by day, Cannon and Ball on stage at night, and the constant whirling fairground calliopes make this one of the Grande Dames of British holiday spots.

London’s public transport has recently received a green boost with a fleet of six hybrid Volvo vehicles taking to the streets. The new B5L double-decker busses have held true to their roots, retaining the classic red color, but demonstrate a new green flair.

Powered by a hybrid drive train, the new busses save 25% on fuel consumption while greatly reducing noise and emissions. Making use of the I-SAM, parallel hybrid system, the busses can reach up to 12 mph in electric before the diesel engine kicks in.

The initial six busses are part of a trial for the updated technology, with the potential for additional hybrid busses to be added in the future. In a city with incredible population density, public transportation is crucial. Taking steps such as the addition of hybrid busses is a great move forward and example that will hopefully be followed by metropolitan areas around the world.

Connaught Gardens was designed by Pollard Thomas Edwards architects. PTEa has developed this site through a subsidiary company Connaught House Developments (a joint venture between PTE Property and Guild Developments) after the firm won planning permission for seven contemporary townhouses on this unique steeply sloping site near Highgate Woods. When approaching the houses, the Northern elevation is most prominent, the form and materials relating to the wooded hillside. The individual houses are merged to suggest a ‘building in the woods’ and are faced with a staggered butt cedar shingle, like the bark of a tree.

The southern elevation in contrast relates to the black and white ‘Tudorbethan’ vernacular of immediate neighbours, where black windows and doors sit in a white rendered terrace. The section of the typical house was carefully articulated to benefit from views, orientation and the dramatic level changes across the site. Houses are entered at upper ground level across an implied bridge with glazed screens providing glimpses of the garden beyond. Access to the garden is provided by a winding timber stair, to a lower ground storey, partly excavated to maximise the use of the slope.

The roof eaves are stopped short of a conventional ridge, where a hidden roof terrace provides large amenity space and dramatic long views. Here a fully glazed lantern provides south light to the living spaces on the northern side of the building. The eyrie-like quality of the attic rooms are popular children’s rooms with low level windows to the garden, and ceilings which follow the roof slope to provide high level light through clerestory glazing.

The UK’s Digital Economy Bill (DEB) may have a negative effect on establishments that offer open Wi-Fi access to users. Libraries, Universities, Cafes and other small businesses will not be exempt from anti-piracy policies in the Digital Economy Bill, meaning that a small business offering WiFi might be warned and held responsible for copyright infringement of somebody using their WiFi access.
Lilian Edwards, professor of internet law at Sheffield University, said that the scenario as described by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) would effectively “outlaw open Wi-Fi for small businesses,” while leaving the likes of Universities and public Libraries in an uncertain position.

“This is going to be a very unfortunate measure for small businesses, particularly in a recession, many of whom are using open free Wi-Fi very effectively as a way to get the punters in,” Edwards said. “Even if they password protect, they then have two options — to pay someone like The Cloud to manage it for them, or take responsibility themselves for becoming an ISP effectively, and keep records for everyone they assign connections to, which is an impossible burden for a small cafe.”

Fashion schools all offer something a bit different, so it is a good idea to have a good idea of what exactly you want to do in the fashion industry before you settle on a particular fashion design school in the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom offers a lot of great fashion design school options, so many that one can actually feel overwhelmed when they try to choose just one! Limit your stress in searching for the right school by considering every aspect of your future career as well as the current capabilities of each fashion school.

There are several elements to the fashion business that one will want to consider. Not only will you want to understand how clothes are made, you will also want to learn the history of fashion, current trends, market trends, marketing, sales, and merchandising. Depending on what you want to do when you are done with your schooling will determine which of these elements that you will want to put the most emphasis on during your fashion education. What you want to do will also determine which UK fashion design school is right for you. If one fashion school specializes in the making of clothes and you want to go into marketing, which may not be the right fashion school in the UK students with this particular career goal should attend.

One of the fashion schools the United Kingdom is known for is The School of Design. The School of Design offers a little bit of everything and can easily offer a well-rounded education for those that have not chosen just one element of the fashion industry that they would like to pursue. The London College of Fashion is also quite popular and happens to provide a very good education as well. If you would like to attend a UK fashion school student’s boast about in your free time you might want to consider the Milan Fashion Campus. The Milan Fashion Campus is an online fashion school, which is great for those that currently have responsibilities to attend to and cannot dedicate all of their time to fashion school.

Finding a UK fashion design school designers would endorse is not difficult, as many of the schools listed above are endorsed by some of the biggest names in fashion today. Remember though, every student has to decide for him or herself which is the right fashion school for them and their current career path. If you are considering going to fashion school in two years, it is not too early to start doing research on the schools in the UK that would be the best fit for you. Consider where you live, where you can afford to live, the schools reputation, the current curriculum that the school offers, and your career plans.

The number of people using payday loans in the UK has increased by over 4 times during the last four years, from 1.2 million in 2006 to 4.1 million in 2010. U.K. borrowers take out an average of 3.5 loans per year and the average size of a loan is an estimated £294. Just like in the United States, high late fees charged by banks, cable companies, phone companies and utility providers make payday loans a rational choice for many U.K. consumers. Compared to a $30 or $40 late fee on a small amount owed, taking a payday loan for £500 payday loan for a £100 fee makes sense. The economic downturn has hit the UK very hard and the impact has been less available credit for consumers. Therefore, many consumers are turning to payday loans as their only source of credit in these tough times. US Companies Entering United Kingdom. Another driving factor behind the growth of the U.K. industry is the entrance of American companies. Companies like Quick Quid are units of large internet lenders in the US. These companies see the UK as a relatively large market with a more stable regulatory environment than many states in the U.S. The U.S. market is driven by state laws and the U.K. industry is estimated to be as big as the 3rd or 4th largest state in the U.S. So, American companies are driving innovation and demand in the U.K.

Getting a loan from a local store can be difficult and time consuming process. In the U.S., online companies cannot deliver fund to the consumer until the next day, so many consumers prefer to get their cash immediately at a storefront location. However, in the UK, consumers can usually get their funds in a matter of hours, making online cash advances an easier, more convenient option for them. The final reason online payday loans in the UK are so popular is due to the higher relative real estate costs in Great Britain. In the U.S., real estate is typically much cheaper and more readily available. Higher costs in the UK drive up the costs of stores and therefore drive many more payday lenders to the internet in the U.K. The payday loan industry in the UK is growing by leaps and bounds. There are many reasons for this growth, but the aforementioned five reasons are the major driving force behind this expansion.

For people who like countryside, Cumbria is the place to be, it’s also called the Lake District and it surely is. Being surrounded by 16 lakes this English countryside is splendid because of it breathtaking landscape. It’s great for people who are little adventurous and like mountain cycling and also trekking.
